Career & Technical Education (CTE)

Weldon City Schools Career & Technical Education

CTE

Mission

The mission of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is to empower all students to be successful citizens, workers and leaders in a global economy.

Career and Technical Education gives students’ opportunities to figure out what they are passionate about and want to do - and not do - after high school. Students explore a range of career options based on what they love to do and do well.

CTE helps build confidence and leadership skills to meet their goals in and out of the classroom. Courses in Career and Technical Education are designed to contribute to the broad educational achievement of students, including basic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as their ability to work independently and as part of a team, think creatively, solve problems, and utilize technology.

Weldon offers CTE courses in the following program areas:

  • Business, Finance, and Marketing Education
  • Agriculture Education
  • Career Development Education
  • Computer Science and Information Technology Education
  • Family and Consumer Science Education

Under Perkins V, students who complete at least two courses in a single program or program of study will be considered a CTE concentrator and qualify for the WorkKeys Assessment to earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC).  In addition to the NCRC, students have opportunities to earn numerous certifications across every pathway. For more information and sample test questions, click on the ACT WorkKeys page.
